Gregory A. Lehman, DDS
Meet Dr. Lehman
Message from Gregory Lehman, DDS
I would personally like to welcome you to the office of Lehman & Menis Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. I am from the southwest suburbs of Chicago. One of my goals of this practice is to give you an opportunity to learn about me. My dad was an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon in Joliet and was indeed a role model for my life in this specialty. For me, my earliest memories are steeped in oral surgery. It was not the easiest nor shortest of goals, but by sixth grade, it became my dream. After graduating from Providence High School in New Lenox, I became an undergraduate student at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. I was a serious student participating in numerous academic honors organizations. I was also a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. I not only studied hard, but forged wonderful friendships while learning about leadership and character.
After graduating from Drake, I was accepted to the University Of Illinois at Chicago, College of Dentistry. With oral surgery as my goal, I knew that a high level of achievement was expected. In order to differentiate myself, I became involved in research. I helped author a research paper on enamel and even gave a presentation in Washington DC at the National Institute of Health. I also became friends with Michael Menis who would later play an important role in my professional career. I graduated with honors.
Thereafter, I embarked upon the four-year journey of residency training in Oral & Maxillary Surgery. I completed my first year of training at Washington University at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, one of the top regional medical centers in the US. From there I became a resident at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Program in New York City. I spent the next three very busy years learning facial bone surgery known as maxillofacial reconstruction, trauma reconstruction, and all phases of dental implant treatment. This became the basis for my practice today.
In 1995, Dr. Michael Menis and I began a partnership opening our practice in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in Crystal Lake. We have strived to create a patient centered practice and to serve our dental community. We have developed lasting relationships with many dental professionals in the area. We are lucky to be able to work with such caring professionals and to be part of the dental team. I personally have a passion for implant dentistry. I spend many hours outside of the office on continuing education in order to stay on the cutting edge of dental implant technology and advancements. I also serve as a continuing education instructor for my peers in the dental community, teaching and guiding them in the most current dental implant concepts and techniques.
I love this profession because it gives me the opportunity to improve people’s lives. It gives me joy to help our patients regain their confidence to smile, laugh, and even enjoy the foods they love. Outside of the office, I love to spend time with family, my two daughters, and friends. I also enjoy playing golf, cycling, and any outdoor activities with my dog, Ginger.
